"The IT department of every company is going to be the HR department of AI agents in the future.
Today, they manage and maintain a bunch of software from the IT industry. In the future, they will maintain, nurture, onboard, and improve a whole bunch of digital agents and provision them to the companies to use. And so, your IT department is gonna become kind of like AI Agent HR."—NVIDIA's visionary leader, Jensen Huang, dropped a bombshell at CES 2025, which has the entire tech world buzzing.
Probably the weirdest word in this whole quote is “nurture” 🤨.
Huang is predicting a seismic shift in the role of IT, one that will see them morph into the HR departments for our new AI workforce.
Think about it: instead of just managing software licenses and fixing printer jams, IT will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and even nurturing entire teams of digital employees.
Forget performance reviews for your human colleagues; you might be evaluating the KPIs of your AI assistant.
What kind of skillset will these "AI HR" professionals need?
Will we need specialized AI psychologists to handle digital burnout?
Will AI agents demand equity and inclusion training?
The mind boggles at the possibilities.
